To our valued local businesses and residents:

mountainviewsAs you may be aware of, RRROCA has a monthly community newsletter to help RRROCA communicate news, events and local information to every household in Rocky Ridge and Royal Oak and also helps residents communicate with each other. As a community association, we also know how important it is to encourage people to shop locally and support stores and services in our immediate area.

We have made the decision to switch newsletter providers from Suburban Journal to Mind’s Design Publishing. which is a locally owned and operated company that comes highly recommended by other community associations and actively strives to help grow local businesses and build strong communities. The first issue of the relaunched newsletter will be in March. The community newsletter Editor is working behind the scenes at the moment with Mind’s Design to create our new and improved newsletter. However, our Editor cannot do this without assistance and input from the community. Any contributions from the community will be most welcomed; either one-time articles, event submissions, Letters to the Editor etc., or ongoing submissions such as a column written by youth for youth, monthly gardening tips, ideas on how to get outdoors—or a myriad of possibilities.

Also, a key part of the newsletter is advertising. This enables our newsletter to remain free of charge. The amount of advertisements determines the number of pages in the newsletter. Also, ads from area businesses helps to grow our local economy. If you are a business owner, we would invite you to advertise in our newsletter. We realize that there may be some good reasons why you haven’t placed an ad previously. However, one thing to consider is how your ad also helps RRROCA.

The business model of Mind’s Design is that it wants to make advertising affordable for all businesses, including home-based businesses, boutique/micro sized ones and of course larger companies. Another part of this model is that total ad revenue is pooled and a small dividend is paid back to community associations to go back into providing events and programs that benefit residents. So, your advertising would support RRROCA in two ways: by enabling our newsletter to continue and also help us provide more good things to the community. We are excited to take our newsletter in a new and creative direction, including merging the two separate Royal Oak and Rocky Ridge newsletters into one single publication.

I sincerely hope that you will consider joining us on this new venture. Please visit Mind’s Design website at http://www.mindsdesign.ca to get to know them a little better and also find a detailed explanation of advertising rates. Please don’t hesitate to contact them with any questions you may have. Please contact the newsletter Editor, Carla Knipe at journal@rrroca.org, if you have any questions about our newsletter. Please also contact RRROCA’s sponsorship director at sponsorship@rrroca.org if you are a business who is interested in more ways to partner with RRROCA.

We are now accepting content for the March issue and Mind’s Design is currently booking advertising. Don’t miss out on getting in on our inaugural relaunched newsletter!
