Rocky Ridge and Royal Oak Residents, Oil Well Update, June 21,2012
Energy Minister Ken Hughes came out to Royal Oak and toured the Kaiser well site and the surrounding area.  We discussed the process the community has been through the last 7 months and the serious need for an appropriate Urban drilling policy for all Albertans.  Minister Hughes was very open to the concept of implementing an Urban drilling policy and asked several pertinent questions regarding the Kaiser issue.  This openness is a complete “360” from the previous Minister of Energy and I found Minster Hughes to be well informed of the issues and truly engaged with our concerns.
Additionally, the Alberta Infrastructure department has filed an objection with the Surface Rights Board against Kaiser for right of entry.  We are currently reviewing this significance of this action with our legal council.  I personally would like to thank Sandra Jansen, MLA Calgary-West for her unwavering support through out this “battle” and with facilitating the meeting with Minister Hughes.
We need all the support with can gather for our “ Stop the Kaiser oil well Rally” , this Sunday, noon to 2:00 p.m. at the Royal Oak Center (Wal-Mart parking lot).  We have invited the press and the more people that show, the bigger the message from our community.   I am confident Sandra will be able to further expand on the meeting with Minister Hughes, this Sunday during the rally.
Bring your family, Bring your Friends, Bring your lawn chairs and umbrella (just in case).
See you then,

Oil Well Rally and Update – June 06,2012

RRROCA will be hosting a Stop the Kaiser Oil Well Rally on Sunday, June 24th from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the Wal-Mart parking lot.

Please visit the new website for information, that is dedicated for stopping the Oil Well – http://www.stopthekaiseroilwell.com/

This situation with the Kaiser oil well is not just our community issue, if the Kaiser oil well goes    ahead, it will be the beginning of wells being approved through-out city communities in Alberta. We are demanding that the ERCB implement an urban drilling policy.

Please note that we support the Energy industry in our province and are not against drilling in general, just not inside or adjacent to affected urban areas.

Due to some scheduling conflicts, our Rally will now be held, Sunday, June 24th at 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wal-Mart parking lot. This will be a positive event and we encourage families and friends to attend.  Moreover, elected N.W. officials, Alderman Hodges and Lowe and newly elected MLA Sandra Jansen will be in attendance.  Feel free to bring lawn chairs and signs.

We still require volunteers for door to door delivery of flyers and some for traffic control on the rally day.  Please email oilwellrally@rrroca.org if you can help out.

We need your help and support sending the message out!

Ken Hughes Memo

Final ERCB submission

Minister Hughes reply letter/RRROCA reply

Our final legal ERCB submission is June 07th.  Please see the above link to review.  The ERCB has 90 days to respond to the final submission.  Of note, the City of Calgary has also tendered a legal submission.  In this regard, our legal firm has been in contact with the City of Calgary to ensure continuity.  Within the final submission, there is a copy of the Kaiser Oil concern and a need for an urban policy speech by our newly elected Calgary West MLA Sandra Jansen at the Alberta Legislature, May 29th, 2012.

Join our rally Sunday, June 24th 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. @ the Royal Oak Center, Wal-Mart Parking lot. Let’s stand together and bring this proposed Oil Well and the lack of no Urban Policy awareness to all Albertans!
